On one hand, I’m morally opposed to stanced lifted wagons because it ruins the whole point of it being lifted, on the other hand, that looks REALLY good.

So much better than a lifted american avant

Agreed. But allow me to offer a counterpoint:

Oh I get it now. You’re showing us allroads that have been lowered.

STILL: GIB ME RS6

I wouldn’t consider these “stanced” but in reference to what they are stock I would say that. I’ve been talking to the owner of the 2nd Silver one, he said with coils, sway bars and a cross brace he was able to keep up with most in the twisties. I really want one.

so whats the difference between those and a regular A6 (A4?) wagon aside from the body panels?

I’m conflicted, while they look great, why would you do that to an Allroad and not just start with a wagon thats already lower

Age and gearbox. Realistically when I graduate from engineering school (2017) I’m planning on buying in 2018 and I don’t want anything more than 2 years old.

They stopped bringing A4 Avants here in 2012, and 2012 was the only year they offered the new and much improved (over the 6AT) 8 speed ZF. That, coupled with the spec I’d like without having to spend $$$ to convert (S-line, titanium preferred) leads me to the AR. That spec is almost impossible to find. I’m pretty sure less than 100 were brought in S-line or S-line titanium in ‘12.

They don’t look super handsome stock but it’s amazing what a slight drop and wheels will do. Black, white, and silver are available with color matched flares from the factory (my girlfriends brother has a mint C5 black/black color matched allroad and I love it) but I actually quite like the plastic breakup of the color on the B8's.

is it a manual? I’ve seen they only brought 300/yr with manuals.

Unfortunately no manuals after the ‘08 B7 Avant. That would be the hardest thing for me since I've only driven manual since having my license. I've heard good things about the trans though.

It's in my name man. I hop around between cars in my price bracket but it always comes back here.

I have the “Almost an Avant” 3.2 quattro. The 4th Audi in our family.

I used to have quite the love affair with A3's. I wish they still brought the hatch over. I feel like I must be the younger incarnation of you.

Oh man... this is goodness. I used to really hate the Allroad because it killed the Avant, but then I realized that with some small tweaks the Allroad can be just as good.

Also +1 username, reminds me of a Kinja life before I worked for Jalopnik.

You’re thought process regarding an Audi wagon is really good. I hope you get to follow through on that.

Thanks! I forgot to mention that 8 speed ZF is also in the AR. This is one of the few affordable cars that I would like that would be a reasonable choice for what I want and what I need to accomplish in terms of daily/weekend activities. It sucks that I have to give up the stick, but maybe it's for the best here

Pretty nice, but just paint the flares and such body color. That fake tough, matte black trim look is incredibly annoying and superfluous...

I hear you about the manual transmission. If you get stuck in rush hour here, you hate your car because of the clutch. Again, I think you’re really onto something here. I’m going to check out some Audis this weekend and see if dealers are willing to take some money off. Thanks for a great post.

Also, those wheels work really well with that silver.

No problem! I like that some people can get something out of my posts. I’ve never been a fan of the plastic cladding but the new all roads changed that for me. I have a picture of a similar silver Allroad with RS5 rotors that has the flares color matched, it’s almost too much of silver I think. If you’re interested in how it looks, I can post it if you’d like.

In all reality I'm a victim of taking advantage of the Internet to learn way too much about cars since elementary school, and not being able to purchase one I want until 24, I've had a lot of time to really think about what I need and what I can do to a car.
